Job Description

A Carter Lumber Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for utilizing both internal and external data to solve problems, data mining and various types of analytics.  Effective communication with the field and internal departments are mandatory for the success of this position.
Requirements:

  • Must be able to reliably commute to Kent, Ohio
  • Must be authorized to work in the US
  • Degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, Economics or similar
  • Ability to look for trends, analyze and report on data
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel 
  • Knowledge of SQL preferred
  • Working knowledge of data structures and data modeling
  • Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills
  • Familiarity with current BI software solutions
  • Smartsheet experience preferred
  • Minimal travel involved (may include overnight)
Responsibilities:
Analysis
  • Establish KPI’s, set benchmarks, and forecasting
  • Use external and internal data for mining and problem solving.
  • Performs margin and pricing analysis as required to support business objectives
  • Develops and presents opportunities to improve business practices
Reporting
  • Maintain data visualizations across the company and provide a centralized clear message
  • Develop interactive dashboards using BI software provided, and the ability to explain thoroughly what the data is showing
  • Work with management to investigate issues and provide solutions
  • Ability to adjust on the fly and answer questions via data visualizations
