This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Grounds Maintenance Worker 2 position for the OSU -Cascades campus in Bend Oregon, at Oregon State University ( OSU ).
This position will be located in Bend, Oregon. The Grounds Maintenance Worker 2 is responsible for landscape/maintenance program planning and execution at the OSU -Cascades campus in Bend Oregon. OSU -Cascades operates on a 10-acre main campus at 1500 SW Chandler Ave with one outlying facility, the Graduate and Research Center at 650 SW Columbia Ave. With future expansion already programmed for the main campus, this is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team and shape Oregon's newest university campus.The Grounds Maintenance Worker 2 is responsible for landscape/maintenance program planning and performing a variety of tasks to maintain exterior spaces at OSU -Cascades' facilities. Duties include landscaping, basic horticultural work, snow removal, maintenance of storm water systems and other maintenance tasks. The Grounds Maintenance Worker 2 also serves as a backup to the custodial staff on a limited basis, to cover for vacation and sick leave of the regular custodial crew. During snow removal operations, the Grounds Maintenance Worker 2 is responsible for planning and coordinating the work of classified custodial staff that augment Grounds Maintenance for snow removal.
OSU -Cascades landscape design and maintenance philosophy emphasizes native species and sustainable practices to cultivate and protect outdoor spaces that are beautiful, sustainable and serve as learning spaces for several of our academic and research programs.
OSU -Cascades, located in Bend, Ore., is a branch campus of Oregon State University. Established in 2001, the university currently enrolls more than 1,200 students in bachelor's and master's degree programs. The campus expanded to a four year university in 2015, opened its 10-acre campus in fall 2016, and the Oregon legislature approved additional funding in 2017 and 2018 for continued campus expansion. The branch campus has ambitious enrollment goals to reach 3,000 students by 2025 and is engaged in building a culturally diverse and community-centric educational environment.
Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):
Pesticide applicator's license may be required based on position duties; AND Two years experience as a grounds keeper which included plant care; OR An Associate's degree in Landscape Technology or Horticulture; OR Completion of a Landscape Certification program or license in a horticultural specialty.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
