Job Title: Box Office Assistant (Nights)

Organization: Fairfield Theatre Company

Location: Fairfield, Connecticut

Type: Part-time (non-exempt)



Fairfield Theatre Company, a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting and enriching our community through the transforming power of the arts, is seeking a part-time Box Office Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proficient with a computer, possess strong communication skills, be enthusiastic about working in the non-profit arts sector, and open to learning new skills.

This will primarily be a Thu-Sun showtime position 3PM-11PM, with some weekday, daytime shifts. Some weekday hours may be required as needed for training or to fill in, totaling 15-30 hours a week.

Responsibilities

Box Office Operations

  • Utilize event ticketing software to assist patrons with ticket purchases.
  • Assist customers in navigating the website for self-ticket purchases, guiding them on the process, and resolving any issues.
  • Answer and return phone calls, providing accurate information about show dates, times, venue locations, directions, and performer details.
  • Print tickets for mailing to patrons and will call.
  • Perform daily reconciliation of box office income.
  • Update patron information as necessary.
  • Manage and hold a key for opening and closing the box office.
  • Educate patrons about the benefits of membership, providing insight into our non-profit mission.
  • Encourage patrons to become members, highlighting the positive impacts on the organization and its mission.
  • Manage customer entry including ticket scanning, ushering, coat check as assigned
  • Handle unexpected tasks as assigned

Customer Inquiry Handling and Routing

  • Field open-ended customer calls, emails, and inquiries, providing assistance and information as needed.
  • Understand various departments and their contacts within Fairfield Theatre Company.
  • Route customer inquiries to the appropriate departments for efficient problem resolution and communication.

Technical Proficiency and Requirements

  • Demonstrate proficiency in typing and utilizing keyboard shortcuts.
  • Ability to use a mouse or other pointing device.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets) or Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) for organizational tasks.
  • Demonstrate familiarity and comfortability using Windows.
  • Strong communication, phone, and customer service skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Competency in problem-solving and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Previous experience in customer service, retail, or online sales is welcomed.
  • Willingness to tackle unexpected tasks.
  • Enthusiasm and interest in working in the non-profit arts sector.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Compensation

  • This is an entry level hourly position
  • Pay will be $16.50/hr+ adjustment based on experience
  • This position is eligible for commissions
