We are seeking an experienced Senior Biologist / Project Manager to join our growing Natural Resources team in California. In this role, you will lead project execution, delegate tasks, and collaborate closely with both your peers and junior staff to ensure the success of our projects.

Location:
Ideal candidates are based in the Los Angeles or San Diego areas. While flexible work arrangements, including a blend of in-office and remote work, may be offered, our evolving business needs and the importance of in-person collaboration with clients will guide our approach to remote work. To foster strong team dynamics, we prioritize hiring candidates located within 50 miles of one of our office locations, which include: Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Palm Springs, Riverside, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, San Jose, Santa Barbara, and Ventura.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Work:
Prepare high-quality technical studies and environmental documents such as Biological Resource Assessments, biological CEQA/NEPA analyses, Jurisdictional Delineations, and permit application packages.
Identify the optimal permitting pathways for complex projects and develop the necessary technical studies and materials for application submissions.
Conduct stream/wetland delineations and other fieldwork essential for biological documentation.
Occasional travel with overnight stays may be required.

Project Management:
Lead complex biological permitting projects, including Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and Coastal Act projects.
Manage and complete medium to large projects independently, ensuring timely and effective delivery.
Coordinate and oversee project scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and regulatory agencies, ensuring clear communication and smooth project management.
Provide technical direction to both staff and subcontractors.
Lead quality assurance and control (QA/QC) reviews of technical reports, budgets, and schedules.

Business Development:
Engage in client outreach to foster strong relationships and secure new business opportunities.
Write proposals and develop cost and schedule estimates for prospective projects.
Participate in client interviews and deliver presentations to secure project work.

Qualifications
This role is perfect for you if you have:
A minimum of 6 years of progressive and successful environmental consulting experience across technical work, project management, and business development.
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology (or equivalent) from an accredited institution, or a PhD with 4+ years of relevant experience.
A proven track record of supervising employees, providing solutions, and building positive relationships with staff, clients, regulatory agencies, and subconsultants.
Expertise in:
Biological resource assessments (CEQA/NEPA)
Botanical and wildlife species surveys
Wetland delineations and jurisdictional determinations
CRAM assessments
Regulatory permitting and compliance oversight
Restoration planning, habitat management, and mitigation monitoring
Experience with utility, energy, water, or transportation projects is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range for this full-time position is $84,000 - $138,000, plus benefits and bonus opportunities. Salary offers will be based on a candidate's skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, ensuring fairness and internal equity.
